Coupon 101

I discovered using coupons more than 10 years ago when I was a struggling single-mom. I have no clue no guidance but I get the Sunday newspaper (I buy it!) and know that my $2 weekly investment pays off by using the coupons straightforward.

Flash forward many years later.... using coupons became more of a passion. Am not hoarding, I am stockpiling (wisely and intelligently) products that my family use. It is more of a year of planning. I do not buy what I need right now but what we need for a span of several months. This way, it is not sort of panic buying but watching what is on sale and taking advantage of that.

How to start:
1. Subscribe to Sunday newspaper. Here in Klamath Falls, you can actually get it for free. There will be coupon inserts. That is your pot of gold. Hear me on this....and I will explain later, try to subscribe for at least 4 sets of newspaper for your household.

2. Buy Sunday newspaper. You are not after the wonderful news...but you are after the COUPONS. So make sure that there are coupon booklets before purchasing. There are weeks that there are no coupons - like holidays. If I purchase, I like the Dollar Store or you can buy them discounted from Herald News office by midweek.

3. Join a coupon club - wherein members can trade coupons or ask for coupons. Like I don't use diaper coupons and would gladly give them to anyone who needs it.

4. Sign up on SAVING STAR. This is online and you don't need to print coupons. They have e-coupons and deals that gives you CASH BACK on item. Yes --- CASH. If you are following me on this.... you purchase an item from the store, you use a coupon you clipped, then as an added bonus is you GET CASH BACK.  Free to join, some stores you can link with your store cards other stores you have to upload your receipt. Really easy. CLICK HERE TO JOIN

5. Register for Store cards! Fred Meyers, Safeway, Staples Rewards, Big Lots, Rite-Aid, etc. Register and we will talk about this more in length in other post. They accumulate points and gives you deals, discounts and coupons.

6. Do you have a smartphone? Download APPS like Ibotta, Checkout 51 and Snap are my favorites. Will discuss this more in another  post. What these apps does is give you CASH back on featured products. You need to download the apps, scan the barcode and upload your receipt and CASH BACK!

7. Check out Klamath Couponers FB Page, I post current coupons that you can additionally print at your home computer. Head on to the COUPON CENTER, find your products...clip all the coupons and print. Some points to remember, when there are HIGH VALUE COUPONS, like $1 or $2 or sometimes up to $5 or Buy one get one free coupons --- PRINT THEM! They do ran out.

The key is do not stress yourself and have fun using coupons and saving money!

Love,
Ethel
